Ricardo Leyva Mu\u00f1oz Ram\u00edrez<\/b>\u00a0(\/r<\/span>\u0259<\/span>\u02c8<\/span>m<\/span>\u026a\u0259r<\/span>\u025b<\/span>z<\/span>\/<\/span><\/span>; February 29, 1960 \u2013 June 7, 2013), known as\u00a0Richard Ramirez<\/b>, was an American\u00a0serial killer,\u00a0serial rapist, and\u00a0burglar. His highly publicized\u00a0home invasion\u00a0crime spree terrorized the residents of the greater\u00a0Los Angeles\u00a0area and later the residents of the\u00a0San Francisco\u00a0area from June 1984 until August 1985. Prior to his capture, Ramirez was dubbed the “Night Stalker<\/b>” by the\u00a0news media.[1]<\/sup><\/p>\n

He used a wide variety of weapons, including\u00a0handguns,\u00a0knives, a\u00a0machete, a\u00a0tire iron, and a\u00a0hammer. Ramirez, who claimed to be a\u00a0Satanist, never expressed any remorse for his crimes.[1]<\/sup>\u00a0The judge who upheld Ramirez’s nineteen\u00a0death sentences\u00a0remarked that his deeds exhibited “cruelty, callousness, and viciousness beyond any human understanding”.[2]<\/sup>\u00a0Ramirez died of complications from\u00a0B-cell lymphoma\u00a0while awaiting execution on\u00a0California’s\u00a0death row.<\/p>\n
